Beautiful view. Bicycles only remind me of the Netherlands.
So gorgeous! I am the "Anonymous" who commented in March, saying that I was going to be travelling from the US to Amsterdam at the end of March/early April. We had a fantastic time and I have to say that although I have visited many places in Europe, Amsterdam was the one place which, with every fiber of my being, I did not want to leave. While there, we rented (understated) bikes for a couple days and I was so impressed at how you could go pretty much anywhere on a bike, and how bikes are the norm, and people seem to ride them unself-consciously (merely for transportation, not because they believe they appear virtuous and "green.") The bikes also got us out into less touristy areas, so we could get a better sense of the city. Most of the time, we rode with no particular destination in mind.In any case, I would be interested if you wanted to post about your experience moving to Amsterdam. I have assumed you are American, but I don't know why I have assumed that... I guess because you lived in American cities. I'm curious how you pulled off the move... do you have EU citizenship? Did you have a job lined up in an American company based in Amsterdam? What is your profession (you talked about playing with images and words.) Perhaps I should check the blog archives to see if you have already addressed these things. Thanks!
